Porto Conference 02 March 2007
'Retail research revisited' Friday 2 March 2007 in Porto, Portugal
What is the meeting about?
AIMRI is holding a meeting in Porto on Friday, 2 March 2007. The subject will be 'Retail research revisited'.
This subject proved popular when we last raised it at Lucca in Italy in June 2002. The topics raised on that occasion included "Researching the retail sector in Germany", "Using on-site groups in the retail sector", "Global research with key retailer accounts", and "Eye tracking research for in store merchandising". In Porto we will also include mystery shopping.
If you would like to present a paper in Porto please send a brief synopsis to Richard Chilton at the address below.
After the working sessions on Friday we will organise a gala dinner in a local restaurant. The booking form is attached.
Facing the big lodges of port wine to which it gave its name across the river Douro, Porto has preserved its ancient roots. The Cathedral area deserves to be explored, including the Renaissance church of Santa Clara, and the densely populated quarter of Barredo, which appears not to have changed since medieval times. The riverside quarter of Ribeira is also delightful, with narrow streets, typical houses and picturesque life-style: it has been recently restored and now includes fashionable restaurants and bars. Equally lively and colourful is the market of Bolhão, where you can buy almost anything.
Infante de Sagres Hotel
What is included
We are keeping the member fee per delegate to a minimum £110 (€160); this includes registration, attendance at all the sessions, lunch (with wine), tea/coffee breaks and the gala dinner. The delegate fee is payable by all attending the sessions, including those giving short presentations. There will be no charge for accompanying persons but they may not attend the formal sessions: there will however be an extra charge for the gala dinner.
We have negotiated very favourable rates at this 5 star hotel. The Infante de Sagres is centrally located with comfortable bedrooms and elegant public rooms. It is furnished with antique furniture and tapestries. We shall be conferring in most graceful surroundings.
For non members there is a slightly higher fee. In the case of new members who attend the meeting and join within 2 months we will waive the joining fee and refund the difference between the member and non-member meeting fees.
The Gala Dinner is included in the full delegate fee. This will cover aperitifs at the restaurant and a gourmet meal with wine. There will be a cost of £45 (€70) per person for guests. A booking form is attached.
Sponsorship & trade stands
We will offer members opportunities to sponsor the conference events. It will be possible also to take trade stands for a modest fee.
How to get there
Porto airport has excellent links to the rest of Europe and to most parts of the world.
