AIMRI Meeting - “Online research & social media on the international landscape”

Thursday 26 April to Saturday 28 2012

Following the rapid advance of online methods social media are also more and more common in the research mix. Researchers understand the importance of digital media, but in practice and application, challenges and threats exist. What are the opportunities and challenges in social media?

Digital research & social media are still largely domestic or done on a country-by-country basis. Is “global” social media the next frontier in digital market research? Are new techniques or processes needed in multicountry research or in developing countries?

• How can full service agencies, fieldwork companies, quantitative and qualitative agencies realistically employ social media to their benefit?

• How does Social Media fit within the market research toolkit----today versus tomorrow?

• Are there any limits to the growth of online research? To what extent are assumptions in our industry about ‘digital’ revolution exaggerated or understated?

• Cloud computing – are we leveraging the opportunities?

Benefits

• Cutting Edge thought leadership from industry colleagues

• Networking opportunities

• Special Evening Gala Dinner in New York

• Discounted Broadway tickets and excursions

• AIMRI support for members in building new international partnerships

New York CloudsNew York

On Friday 27 April 2012, this vibrant conference presents the topic of Digital Market Research tools and Social Media Research. The rise of Social Media presents remarkable opportunities for researchers and the tools are arguably poised to become leading methodologies in market research in the future.

Held in the world’s largest research market by revenue, the conference will attract international corporate end-clients, AIMRI members and other research companies interested in international research. Following the 2008-9 recession, North America now faces market recovery and research industry growth as Europe faces new challenges.

A gateway to the United States, Latin American markets and Canada, the AIMRI New York conference is an exciting, rewarding event for members of the market research community.

New York is a key centre for market research (both theory and practice). This conference will be well attended and there will be ample opportunities to meet with American researchers.

Cocktail Party

By courtesy of Ruth Stanat of SIS International Research there will be a cocktail party in the prestigious Trump World Tower. All delegates are welcome and this will be an opportunity to get to know the other participants in the conference.

Conference Venue

Our venue will be the famous New York River Club. Lunch will be in the Entertainment Suite overlooking the East River. We have a limited allocation of bedrooms in the club and members are urged to apply early. There are many other hotels accessible to the club.

There will be a gala dinner for members and their guests after the formal sessions on Friday 27th April.

What is included

We are keeping the member fee per delegate to a minimum £225 or €260 or $350; this includes registration, attendance at all the sessions, lunch (with wine), tea/coffee breaks and the gala dinner. The delegate fee is payable by all attending the sessions, including those giving short presentations. There will be no charge for accompanying persons but they may not attend the formal sessions: there will however be an extra charge for the gala dinner guests.

For non members there is a slightly higher fee. In the case of new members who attend the meeting and join within 2 months we will waive the joining fee and refund the difference between the member and non-member meeting fees.

The Gala Dinner is included in the full delegate fee. This will cover aperitifs at the restaurant and a gourmet meal with wine. There will be a cost of £80 or €95 or $125 per person for guests. A booking form is attached.
