Ghent 03 March 2006
What is the meeting about?
The purpose of this inter-active seminar is to discuss the interpretation of research results (and other relevant material) rather than the manipulation of research tables. This will include ideas for presentations, including non research material in the results, modelling, projections and anything which can make it easier to understand the significance of a research
A walk through Ghent is like travelling in time as you step from the 14th to the 21st century and back again. The sights extend from medieval guild houses to the Museum of Modern Art and the city has a lively bohemian feel. When the sun goes down you will find a jazz club and a lively night club – there is really something for everyone. And another plus point:
This is a delightful hotel situated in the heart of Ghent adjacent to the famous castle of the Counts of Flanders. The hotel is accommodated in a 19th century mansion which has been completely modernised. Brussels airport has good (and economical) connections with most parts of the world. There is a direct train from Brussels airport. For those coming from London or Paris the Eurostar provides a convenient option. The social side will not be neglected: we plan a gala dinner on the Friday evening in a local restaurant. A wonderful tour of the city by boat along the famous canals has been arranged for Friday – just before the gala dinner.
We are keeping the member fee per delegate to a minimum £125 (€185); this includes registration, attendance at all the sessions, lunch (with wine), tea/coffee breaks, the boat trip and the gala dinner. The delegate fee is payable by all attending the sessions, including those giving short presentations. There will be no charge for accompanying persons but they may not attend the formal sessions: there will however be an extra charge for the gala dinner (and boat trip) guests.
For non members there is a slightly higher fee. In the case of new members who attend the meeting and join within 2 months we will waive the joining fee and refund the difference between the member and non-member meeting fees.
The Gala Dinner and the boat trip are included in the full delegate fee. This will cover drinks on the boat, aperitifs at the restaurant and a gourmet meal with wine. There will be a cost of £70 (€105) per person for guests. Delegates can reduce the cost by up to £60 (€90) by cutting out the boat trip or the dinner. A booking form is attached.
Why not extend your stay to include the weekend and enjoy this enchanting city at your leisure?
