AIMRI Meeting – “New trends in qualitative research”

Friday 12 June 2009, Edinburgh

Programme almost complete

What is the AIMRI meeting about?

We will cover on-line focus groups, ways of exploiting web 2.0, using blogs as a research tool and examine cases where qualitative research has provided new insight. This will include developments in the healthcare, B2B and financial services fields.

AIMRI would like to thank the ICG (Independent Consultants Group) for their help in establishing the programme.

It is still possible to accept one or two additional presentations. Those who wish to make a short presentation should contact Richard Chilton as soon as possible at the address below and provide a brief synopsis.

The conference will be in the comfortable 4 star Royal Terrace Hotel. Recently modernised it enjoys excellent views over landscaped gardens to the rear while the front is part of the well known Georgian terrace. Facilities are excellent and include a swimming pool and gym. The hotel is centrally placed for shopping and visits to the castle and museums.

There are other hotels on the Royal Terrace which may provide alternative accommodation, but they are all of a lesser category to the one we have chosen.

Edinburgh has one of the most beautiful cityscapes in the world, making it the ideal city break destination. With Scotland's most famous castle dominating the city skyline, there is plenty to see and do including world-class museums and galleries.

The high volcanic rock with precipitous sides upon which the castle is built has been a stronghold for thousands of years. It is because of the defensive value of the rock and the succeeding castles built there that Edinburgh became important and eventually the capital of Scotland.

Why not stay for the weekend and enjoy the unique sites in this city. A booking form is attached.

What is included

We are keeping the member fee per delegate to a minimum £145 (€165); this includes registration, attendance at all the sessions, lunch (with wine), tea/coffee breaks and the gala dinner. The delegate fee is payable by all attending the sessions, including those giving short presentations. There will be no charge for accompanying persons but they may not attend the formal sessions: there will however be an extra charge for the gala dinner guests.

For non members there is a slightly higher fee. In the case of new members who attend the meeting and join within 2 months we will waive the joining fee and refund the difference between the member and non-member meeting fees.

The Gala Dinner is included in the full delegate fee. This will cover aperitifs at the restaurant and a gourmet meal with wine. There will be a cost of £60 (€70) per person for guests. A booking form is attached.

How to get there

There is a good rail service from London and Edinburgh airport offers flights to a wide range of international destinations.

Once again we have chosen a fascinating and historic environment for a stimulating event.
